Double hung windows: Letting in the breeze without letting anything out

Living on the Gold Coast, that breeze is sometimes at a premium. Double hung windows allow both the top and the bottom sashes to be open. The flexibility is particularly great for homes that combine low window sills with children or pets. Opening the top sash of a double hung window lets the breeze in while closing the bottom sash stops the kids and the pets falling out.

(You can have them sashless too: no wood or aluminium across the horizontal part of the window.)

Bifold doors & windows

Bifold doors are an elegant solution, especially for people who want the option to create unobstructed spaces or to flood a room with natural light. Perhaps you want the option to slide back the doors between, say, a kitchen and living room for entertaining in a larger space. Or maybe you want to maximise the sunlight filling your living areas.

Pivot doors are all about the scale of what you can do with a glass door.

The style for glass these days is scale. The bigger the better. In retail and hospitality, more glass means people can see more of what you’ve got. At home, it means more light and more of the view. (And a bit of drama.)

When it comes to glass doors, pivot doors allow for incredible height and width. You can run a pivot door all the way to the ceiling — there’s no barrier above the door. You might think weight would be a problem with a door that can be anywhere up to 3 metres tall and 1.5 metres wide but it isn’t because of the way the pivot box works.
