Perched at the end of Tweed Street, Tweed Heads, this house certainly raises eyebrows. With jaw dropping views across the ocean this home was a unique experience for the CGA team in many ways. From it’s free form elliptical egg shaped design, requiring templates to be made to be able to manufacture the frames to fit the openings, through to the practicality of glazing the job in some fairly extreme weather conditions at times – with glass swinging at the end of a crane being fitted in to a small channel.
This is the kind of job you work on once in a lifetime, working alongside GCB Constructions, the project went off smoothly with no breakages and no issues from the manufacture and installation of our windows to our imported open-able porthole windows from the UK.
Windows and doors feature AWS series Elevate commercial framing with a high performance powder coated black finish and grey toughened glass. Frames were templated and metal bent to fit the formed openings, no square internal doors or joinery is featured in this home.
Nicknamed many names, through the build and since – from Jetson house, to the egg house and our project title The Pods, the projects features fixed panels, large silicone butt jointed panels with glass fins, porthole windows and sliding and hinged doors fitted inside complex shaped frames.
