Bifold doors provide elegant, unobstructed spaces
Bifold doors are an elegant solution in any Gold Coast home, especially for people who want the option to create unobstructed spaces or to flood a room with natural light. Perhaps you want the option to slide back the doors between, say, a kitchen and living room for entertaining in a larger space. Or maybe you want to maximise the sunlight filling your living areas.
Bifold windows and doors for functionality and convenience
Bifolds are also useful when space or function make other forms of doors or windows impractical. Bifolds are perfect for confined areas — small bathrooms, tight cupboards — where there isn’t room to have an ordinary hinged door swinging open.
And of course, bifolds are wonderful to bring the outdoors into a garden-facing living or dining room. You can create a wonderful flow between the outdoors and the inside, such as opening links between kitchens and BBQ areas.
There’s no need to invite insects to the party, either — we can fit your bifolds with retractable screens. And if security is a must, we can install a Crimsafe bifold security screen.
How do bifold (or “bi fold”) doors and windows work?
Bifold window and door technology is simple:
- A series of individual doors (leaves) or windows are (usually) hung from the top
- Cleverly designed bracket and hinges allow the bifold doors or bifold windows to collapse onto each other when you want the doors or windows open
- You can choose to have the bifolds open in the centre and collapse left and right, or you can have them open at one end and collapse down to the other
- With the right design (talk to us), you can have an “active door” in the system that operates independently on a hinge, so you don’t have to retract all the doors to be able to pass through
Removing the last obstacle
The vast potential of bifolds to open up spaces can be exciting and overwhelming. We get excited, but not overwhelmed, by every project in glass. Give us a call and tell us what you’re looking for. You’ll be amazed how much fun designing bifold doors for a Gold Coast home can be!
