Krisanne and Troy Watkins had been turned away by 15 window fabricators before they came to us – wanting two large sliding stacking doors with security screens. (“It felt more like 45,” Krisanne told us.)
A Google search led the Watkins to the Australian Window Association (AWA) to find someone to help.
“I couldn’t give up,” Krisanne says. “We even went to numerous factories begging them to change their designs.”
Krisanne and Troy couldn’t turn back because they’d designed and built their house around the doors they wanted. They’d designed the house for that wonderful Queensland indoor/outdoor lifestyle. But everyone was telling them it couldn’t be done.
Luckily, the AWA referred the couple to us. If ever there were customers who needed a glass fabricator with the motto “you dream it, we make it”, it was Troy and Krisanne, who were starting to think their dream might stay just that.
The couple wanted a graceful flow that extended their open-plan interior out to their covered alfresco area. Finding someone to make the glass doors was no problem, but no one would pair the doors with security screens. With three small children, security isn’t negotiable for Troy and Krisanne. There was also the question of the awful hour between 5 and 6 p.m. when the midges and mosquitos of Runaway Bay like to come inside for a feed.
We had no problem fabricating two cavity-stacking sliding doors and pairing them with cavity stacking Crimsafe security screens. Running an impressive 9.4 metres long by 7.5 metres long, the screens maintain the open-plan feeling but leave biting insects and burglars outside where they belong.
“At first, I was very hesitant to believe Central Glass and Aluminium could deliver, having been turned away by so many others,” says Krisanne, “but I’m so glad we came across them. The team is outstanding. The doors are definitely the standout feature of our house, and we absolutely love them. They are amazing!!!!”
