Prevent falls from windows

In 2009 specific requirements were introduced into the Building Code of Australia to address the danger of people falling from windows.

The wording of the regulations has evolved, and it makes for complicated reading as it’s a legal document.

Rather than try to summarise the regulation here, our best advice to you is to talk to a professional before doing anything with your windows. Of course you want to be compliant with the law, but more than that you want to be certain no one has an accident. That’s true in any building but especially important if you have children because they’re the ones most likely to test the safety of your home.
