After May 2014, all new windows, should come with window limiters, restricting the opening of the sash to meet his new legislation. But, what can you do with windows purchased prior to May 2014, to meet this new legislative requirement.
The Building Code of Australia states, that where a person, including a child could fall through an openable window located more than 4 metres above a surface below, a balustrade or barrier (which may be constructed as the wall beneath the window sill, or a fixed window pane, among other solutions) must be constructed with a height of not less than 86.5cm above the floor beneath the window, and any opening in the barrier must not allow a 12.5cm sphere (round ball) to pass through it.
So if you do not want to have security screens, then a quick and easy DIY project for you is to fit the Doric sliding window limiter, so watch on to see our video on just how easy these new limiters are to fit.
